Good Dye Young Semi-Permanent Hair Color Narwhal 148ml

Good Dye Young Narwhal is a vibrant true teal semi-permanent hair colour with light green undertones. One of Good Dye Young's original shades, Narwhal creates a bold blue-green finish inspired by ocean tones and is ideal for anyone looking for a vivid teal rather than a traditional blue or green hair colour.

The highly pigmented conditioning formula deposits vibrant colour without the need for peroxide or developer. Its creamy base acts much like a conditioning hair mask while colouring, helping to leave the hair feeling soft, hydrated and manageable.

How To Use

Always carry out a patch test and strand test before colouring. For the brightest teal result, apply Narwhal to pre-lightened hair. Wear protective gloves to prevent staining and apply the colour directly to clean, dry hair.

Divide the hair into sections and thoroughly saturate each section with the colour. Leave Narwhal on the hair for at least 30 minutes before rinsing with cool water. Do not shampoo or condition while initially rinsing the colour.

For longer-lasting results, wait at least 24 hours before shampooing. Wash the hair less frequently and use cool water and colour-safe haircare products to help reduce fading.

Why Choose Good Dye Young Narwhal?

Narwhal is a great choice if you want a genuine teal shade that sits between blue and green. Unlike a straightforward blue hair dye, its light green undertones give the finished colour a distinctive aquatic teal appearance.

Your starting hair colour will influence the final result. Narwhal produces its most vivid and accurate teal colour on level 9 and lighter hair. Yellow tones remaining in the hair can interact with the teal pigment and make the finished result appear greener.

On level 8 and level 7 hair containing yellow undertones, Narwhal can still produce visible colour, although the result is likely to lean further towards green. For a truer teal result, unwanted yellow tones should be neutralised before applying the colour.

Frequently Asked Questions

What colour is Good Dye Young Narwhal?

Narwhal is a true teal semi-permanent hair colour with light green undertones. It sits between blue and green rather than being a pure blue shade.

What hair level is best for Narwhal?

Good Dye Young recommends level 9 or lighter hair for the most vivid teal result. Level 10 provides an excellent base for maximum vibrancy and colour longevity.

Will Good Dye Young Narwhal work on level 7 or 8 hair?

Yes. Narwhal can work on level 7 and level 8 hair, particularly when the hair contains yellow undertones. However, those yellow tones can make the finished colour appear greener than the true teal result seen on a lighter, more neutral base.

Do I need to bleach my hair before using Narwhal?

Not necessarily, but pre-lightening is recommended if you want a bright and vivid teal result. The darker your starting colour, the less visible and predictable the finished shade will be.

Why has Narwhal turned greener on my hair?

Yellow undertones in blonde or pre-lightened hair can combine with the blue tones in Narwhal and make the finished colour appear greener. Neutralising excessive yellow before colouring will help produce a truer teal result.

Does Narwhal need to be mixed with developer?

No. Narwhal is a direct semi-permanent colour and is used straight from the tube. Do not mix it with peroxide or developer.

How long does Good Dye Young Narwhal last?

Good Dye Young states that Narwhal can last approximately 16 to 24 washes. Colour longevity will depend on hair porosity, previous treatments, washing frequency, water temperature and the haircare products you use.

Can I mix Narwhal with other Good Dye Young colours?

Yes. Narwhal can be mixed with other Good Dye Young semi-permanent shades to create customised blue, teal and green colours. Always carry out a strand test before applying a custom colour mixture throughout the hair.
